Neuvecelle

2,560 inhabitants (known as "Neuvecellois")
Surface area: 4 km²
Altitude: 350 to 571 metres

Neuvecelle is part of the Greater Evian Area, which includes Evian, Publier, Neuvecelle and Maxilly.

The development of tourism that accompanied the construction, between 1900 and 1910, of the great hotels (Le Royal, L'Ermitage and Le Spendide), as well as of the smaller hotels boosted the local economy, which can explain the increase in population observed over the same period. The district of Neuvecelle, comprised principally of small farms, never recovered from the shock of the Second World War, which fundamentally altered the local economic context. Only a rare few could continue to make a living off the land.

Once an overwhelmingly agricultural district, Neuvecelle is today a suburban town that is part of the Greater Evian Area and an integral component of the Léman region's economy.
